RACHEL BURNS
Rachel was born in Sydney and has moved around regional NSW over the last 25 years.
She attended the University of Sydney studying Fine Arts and later completed her Bachelor of Creative Arts with Honours from Wollongong University in 1994. During this time Rachel studied painting, printmaking and sculpture and was to later become a part time lecturer at the university.
Rachel has been represented in Sydney by Damien Minton, Iain Dawson, Maunsell Wickes at Barry Stern Galleries and Libby Edwards Gallery in Brisbane.
The work of Rachel Burns is held in collections across Australia, including the Bathurst Regional Gallery, the University of Wollongong’s Permanent Collection and Price Waterhouse Coopers Legal, Sydney. Rachel now works collaboratively with Ulan Murray creating sculptural pieces.
Rachel has been the recipient of a number of residencies including the 1997 Artist in Residence at the Wollongong City Art Gallery and numerous Aboriginal Communities at Yirrkala and Northern Queensland.
Landscape has always been at the heart of her work.
